Mom, the Rescue Diver...

It was a sunny summer day in Asuncion, and Mom was preparing to vacuum the pool. She was attaching the wide blue hose to the vacuum when she heard the doorbell ring. She dropped the vacuum and ran to the front gate, well knowing that the doorbell-ringer could be as unimportant as a beggar asking for plastic bottles- or as important as someone informing us that we left our gate open.

It was only a woman trying to sell bedsheets. Very pretty and super cheap sheets if the saleswoman could be believed, but Mom was not interested. Mom had a pool to vacuum.

When she got back to the pool, she realized her cell phone was missing. She told the children to help find Mommy's phone. Realizing she could search all day for a cell phone in the huge house, she went to the home phone and dialed her cell number. Someone would hear it ring, wherever it was.

But it didn't ring. It went directly to voicemail.

Mom retraced her steps to the backyard. She looked around the vacuum apparatus, the long pole, the twisty hose at the edge of the pool. And then she saw it. There, under several feet of sparkly blue water, at the bottom of the pool, lay her cell phone.

She threw off her glasses and dived in to save her precious communications device. She climbed out of the pool, with heavy, dripping clothes, and took the phone apart. She spread it out on the trampoline to dry, but she knew it was all over. She saved the chip with all its data to put in a new phone. Well, that's the end of it folks. I can't wait 'til Mom gets a new phone so I can see all of its new features. Later!
